If untreated, it can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), making the body more vulnerable to infections and certain cancers. It spreads through blood, semen, vaginal fluids, rectal fluids, and breast milk. Commonly via unprotected sex, sharing needles, and from mother to child during birth or breastfeeding.

Vaccine titers are blood tests that measure the presence and amount of antibodies against viruses in your system. These antibodies indicate whether you have been exposed to the virus or have been vaccinated and help assess your level of immunity.
You can request titers for vaccines that you received in the past but do not have records for. If the titers show that you have immunity, you are exempt from the vaccine. Titers are most often covered by insurance, but not always. It will take around seven days for titers to come back from the lab. You are still required to get the vaccines if your titers are low.
Understanding your titer levels helps in making informed decisions about additional vaccinations or boosters.
Civil Surgeon recommendation:
Vaccination is quicker and more effective than titers, but lab referrals are available if preferred.

The QuantiFERON®-TB Gold Plus test is a highly accurate blood test used to screen for tuberculosis (TB). Unlike the traditional tuberculin skin test, this test requires just a single blood draw and is not influenced by the BCG vaccine (Tuberculosis vaccine).
Tuberculosis is a serious infectious disease caused by the bacteria *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. It primarily affects the lungs but potentially impacts other parts of the body.
Early detection through this test is crucial to prevent the spread of TB, which can be asymptomatic in its latent form or active and contagious when symptoms like a persistent cough, chest pain, and fever are present.
The RPR (Rapid Plasma Reagin) test is a blood test used to screen for syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum.
This test detects antibodies produced in response to the infection. If the initial test is positive, a titer measurement and confirmatory testing are conducted to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
Syphilis can cause serious health problems if left untreated, including damage to the heart, brain, and other organs.
The Neisseria Gonorrhoeae RNA, TMA test is a urine test used to screen for gonorrhea, a common sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
This test uses transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) to detect the presence of gonorrhea RNA, ensuring accurate and early detection.
Gonorrhea can cause serious health issues if untreated, including infertility and increased risk of other infections.
